Professional Summary

Mr. Pond has trial, arbitration, and mediation experience in the defense of asbestos personal injury, wrongful death and property damages, products liability, and toxic torts with special reference to the respiratory, central nervous, and immune systems; accident injury claims; environmental law (including State, Federal, CERCLA, traditional tort, and Proposition 65 claims); medical malpractice; unfair business competition; construction; bankruptcy; and employment law. Mr. Pond has prosecuted and defended commercial and contractual claims, both domestic and international, in the areas of entertainment and transportation law. Mr. Pond has represented numerous creditors and creditors' committees in bankruptcy and civil insolvency proceedings.

Mr. Pond gained his initial trial experience as a criminal prosecutor with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office (1987-1989) and has continued to successfully try cases while in private practice (1989-Present). In addition to trial litigation, Mr. Pond has served as national and strategic counsel for clients in asbestos litigation and has overseen asbestos cases regionally as well as locally for more than one Fortune 100 corporation. Mr. Pond has spoken at a number of litigation seminars in the areas of asbestos litigation, asbestos medicine and more generally regarding toxic torts and tobacco related medicine. Mr. Pond is the Co-Chair of the Andrews Asbestos Seminar 2005.

Mr. Pond received his Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center in 1986 and his LL.M (International and Commercial Law), with Honors, from Georgetown University Law Center in 1993. Mr. Pond received his Undergraduate Degree (A.B. Philosophy) from Georgetown University. He is licensed to practice in California, the District of Columbia, Arizona, and Colorado and provisionally (asbestos) licensed in Oregon and Utah. Mr. Pond is chartered as an international commercial arbitrator and is certified as a mediator in California. Mr. Pond is published in the area of international transportation law.

Mr. Pond is a Partner in the Firm’s Los Angeles office but splits his time evenly with work out of the San Francisco office.
